Listening to Our Ancestors: The Art of Native Life Along the North Pacific Coast. Listening to Our Ancestors explores how Native people along the coast of Washington State, British Columbia, and Alaska continue time-honored practices in an ever-changing modern world. The exhibition features more than 400 ceremonial and everyday objects, as well as commentary from representatives of eleven contemporary North Pacific Coast Native nations.
The exhibition includes a wide variety of pieces, from intricately woven and ornamented dance blankets to halibut fishing hooks, finely carved and painted masks of supernatural creatures to spoons carved from the horns of mountain goats. Each object reflects the creativity of people whose art has been collected by museums worldwide for more than a century.
September 12, 2007–July 27, 2008 George Gustav Heye Center, New York.

Books
Just finished book #8. It's titled They Call It Graffiti It will be available for sale at
lulu.com on March 10th, 2008. This book also signals a change of plans.
There will be no book #9 or #10 for now anyway. Since the 1st of January
I planned, designed, photo shopped and created 8 quality books. Some days that required
15 hours in front of the computer. Enough is enough, now I have to market these books and
hopefully some of my fans will order them and justify my efforts to create something
new and expose them to decades of high quality photography, art and social insight. Thanks,
- Ernie

The Truth book # 7 of 10 books for 2008. It is called "The Truth", maybe somebody
cares, maybe not, but care or not the book is done. Perhaps someday someone will say "A man set out
to do ten magical books in ten weeks. Ten books that reflected his vision and his art. Ten books that
reflected his experiences of over 35 years of documenting his life, his world, his reality." Then
again, maybe not. If you care, thank you, if not perhaps one day you will. An artist is usually many
years ahead of his audience. - Ernie

Can't stop, won't stop on my quest to make ten books in ten weeks. Take a look at some of the images from the sixth book called Punk Life.
I was fascinated with the emerging Punk Rock culture in New York City during the 1970's and how it intertwined with the graffiti and music scene that was being developed further uptown. Their energies were similar even though their looks were often polar opposites.
These are flicks from the days of CBGB and the little rock bars that dotted the lower east side of Manhattan before those neighborhoods became too hip and cool for the punks. My work in this book tells so many different stories… Iconic imagery of the pre-punk rock and post-punk rock eras along with the past and future New York City.
These books are time capsules to a period that is long gone and whitewashed in this city that now looks like a branded piece of corporate capitalism. DisneyWorld North. Don't ever forget what this city used to be. What rebel rock music used to be. Fuck the emo bullshit. - Ernie
