flyer HIDE: Skin as Material and Metaphor (Part II) The artists selected for HIDE draw upon this rich subject in multi-faceted ways, using both the material and concept of skin as a metaphor for widespread issues surrounding race, representation, as well as personal, historical and environmental trauma and perseverance. flyer NAAR artist David Bunn-Martine will have an exhibition at the Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton beginning on Saturday, September 19, at 4 p.m. Martine (Shinnecock/Montauk/Chiricahua Apache) is the director and curator of the Shinnecock Nation Cultural Center. Tuesday, September 22, at 10:30 a.m., the museum and the Rogers Memorial Library is host a half-hour gallery tour of David Martine’s work. On view through October 31. Not a Place, an Outlook This selection of films considers the Governer Island’s uncanny ability to confuse our sense of time and space. The films will reflect on mental dislocations, simultaneous histories, slowness, temporal soundscapes and unlikely landscapes. These works will run over the course of four weekends at the historic Fort Jay Theater on Governor’s island. Programs will run up to approximately 30mins beginning on the hour from 12pm – 5pm unless otherwise noted.
