ARTIST BIO

Matt Langer is an actor-screenwriter based out of New York city who specializes in theatre, film, and television. Matt is originally from Toronto, Ontario and is a member of Standing Buffalo of the Dakota nation in Saskatchewan. Matt attended the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York for his Conservatory training and University of Toronto in the Faculty of Arts & Sciences for his undergrad.

Exploring Native cultural identity has always been a focus in theatre work having done "Cedars" at LaMama and "Smoke" at the Signature Theater. Both these productions focused on the theme of contemporary Native cultural identity. Other notable acting credits include Harold Clurman Lab's production of "Our Town", Brave New World Rep's production of "Farenheit 451" at the Prospect Park Bandshell and "WASPS" at the Hart House Theatre in Toronto. Recent acting credits include the short "Don't Think About It" and TV projects include the series' true crime series "Evil Talks" for Discovery ID and "Mysteries at the Castle". He was awarded Best Actor at the 2017 Grove Film Festival for "Don't Think About It".

Matt is also a screenwriter who is currently at work on his 4th feature. Diverse themes and genres populate his work. "SOUL", the most recent feature-length script is a sci-fi thriller which explores technology and the conflict between humans and their AI counterparts. Matt is also involved in Improv Comedy and is a graduate of Upright Citizen Brigade's Improv program. When not working on show business he enjoys learning languages (currently German), physical fitness/yoga, and Eastern philosophy. When not in Manhattan he resides in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
